Introduction

THE institute of Capital market Register (ICMR) was registered with the corporate affairs commission (CAC) in line with the provision of the Companies and allied Matters Act (CAMA) 1990 as a company limited by Guaranty on the 4th November,2004 with RC 610498.A bill to give ICMR a chartered Status is now before the federal House of Representative.
 

Main Objectives

To register and conduct Professional Examination in Share Registration leading to the award of Associate of Institute of Capital Market Registrars (ACMR)
To regularly organize evening and weekend Classes for Student members preparing for the Institute Examination.
To organize lecture, seminars and conference on Share Registration and related fields
To publish In-house Journal and Professional Share Registration textbooks
 
Examination Structure

The Institute Professional Examination consists of four levels.
Pre-Foundation

Subjects:

1. Principles of Economic
2. Business Communication
3. Data Processing
4. Introduction to accounting
5. General Principles of Law

Foundation
Subject
1. Monetary Economics
2. Financial Accounting
3. Office Administration and Management
4. Quantitative Technique
5. Information Technology

Professional 1
Subjects:
1. Company Law
2. management Theory and Practice
3. Marketing
4. Theory and Practice of Share Registration (1)

Professional II
Subjects:
1. Company Secretarial Practice
2. Financial management
3. The Capital market
4. Theory and Practice of Shares Registration II

Examination Period

The examination will be held twice a year, February and August. The Examination is expected to be taken and completed in stages. Pre-Foundation must be fully completed before attempting foundation and foundation completed before moving up to professional 1 and Professional 1 must be fully completed before completed before going to Professional 11.

All Passes will be credited.

Registration Procedure
Registration as a student is a pre-condition for taking the institute examinations. Registration form is available at the secretariat on payment of #5000.00

Annual Subscription becomes due on January 1, regardless of date of registration as a student. Student will not be allowed to sit for the examination if their annual subscription is outstanding.

Development levies are expected to be paid once by all.

It is mandatory for all persons employed in Registrars Outfits to register with the institute.

Exemption Guidelines

Entry Point for all graduates is foundation while those with lower qualification will start from Pre-Foundation.

8 MBA, M.Sc. (Economics)

All Papers in Pre-Foundation and Foundation


Application for exemption must be made on the official exemption forms obtainable at the secretariat on payment of N1000.00.Exemption fees per subject is N2500.00.

Registration Deadline.
Candidate taking the February examination must be registered as student member not latter than 31st October of the preceding year and those entering for August Examination not latter than 30th April of the same year
Examination Entries
Entries for examination must be made on the prescribed forms available at the secretariat on payment of N1000.00.The latest period of entry for February examination is January 15th and for August is July 15th.

Examination fees
Fees per subject N2, 500.00

Membership
Membership is open to all Social Science graduate and others intrested in making Share Registration their profession.It is mandatory that all person employed in Registrars Outfit are registered as student or ordinary member.

To become an associate,a candidate is expected to have completed the institue examination and should have not less than seven (7) years experince in the industry.

To become a fellow member,a candidate must have not less than tem (10) years post qualification experience as an Associate.However,honour fellowship award can be given to persons who have contributed significantly to the industry.

Benefits
Members will be given priority for employment in Registrars and other organisation operating in the Capital Market..Associate will be appropraitely exempted from relevant levels of other professional bodies.

Training
From time to time,the institute will organise training programmes for members and the capital market community in general.

Graduate Conversion Programme to Direct Associateship.
Target Audience
Registrars,Bankers,Stockbrokers,Issuing House Executive, Accountants and lawyers practising in the Capital Market,Officials of Securities & Exchange Commission(SEC),Nigerian Stock Exchange(NSE). Central Securites Clearing Systems(CSCS),Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN) and allied Professionals.

Qualification.
HND or B.Sc or a professional qualification (e.g ACIB,ACA,ACII,,ACS,ACIS etc) with not less than seven (7) years experience in the relevant industry.

    • The institute will ensure the regular production of qualified ,experince ,tested and trusted Registrars to effectively manage the register of share holders of publicly quoted Companies.
    • The institute will enormously improve the quality of Service delivery of Registrar Outfit and so will improve the delivery system of the market.
    • Fraud relating to sahres will be drastically reduced if not totally eradicated
    • The confidence of investor in the capital Market will be enhanced.
